3 Austin Food Trucks to Visit During SXSW 2018

I've been hanging onto this post for some time until I visited three different food trucks where people were willing to customize my orders and work with my nitpicky ways. Something about food truck owners makes them easier to deal with. They seem happy for your business. Restaurants? Not always.

Here's to hoping if you read this post after SXSW 2018, these lovely people are still open! They deserve your business.

Kindness goes a long way for me. Yeah, I've had my share of fine dining and/or trendy experiences. Not everyone runs a restaurant smoothly like my culinary hero, Mr. Thomas Keller. Food trucks are around because they bring a special experience for their customers.

Banh Mi Ngon

Best banh mi sandwiches I've had outside of northern USA cities! The people are very kind, and the tea is delicious. The banh mi, which I learned means "sandwich" in Vietnamese and makes the phrase "banh mi sandwich" redundant, comes in chicken, beef, pork, and tofu. Everyone can eat here on any diet plan, or diet cheat days!

For $2, you can buy assorted skewers. I sampled the fish balls skewer and enjoyed it. Around Austin and northern USA cities, you have no idea how many times I've been saddened by fish "balls" as in one fish ball chopped up for an outrageous price. The Banh Mi Ngon truck friends are wonderful to their customers with good prices and portions.

Check out the kawaii logo!

Espadas de Brazil

The cheese bread, pao de quejo, is amazing. Get it and eat seconds! The owner and his family are very sweet to everyone. You will feel welcomed whenever you come here.

The food truck sells Brazil's famous beef, pork, chicken, and vegetarian items. You can have the pork removed from the extra large egg and cheese sandwich served with yucca fries. The portions are not bad here one bit!

The Big Kahuna

As I'm not a fan of lettuce or crunchy greens other than spinach, I made a request to have a poke bowl without it. I know, it kills your spirit if you love it. I hate iceberg! I received a fair amount of raw fish and requested two eggs for 50 cents each. Every poke bowl comes with a choice of side salad. I selected the ginger macaroni salad.

The flower presentation was a charming touch.
